Character Selection Screen

Are you new to the World of Warcraft, or are you trying to choose a good World of Warcraft character? Either way, you have come to the right place. Making your World of Warcraft character work for you is very essential if you want to have fun in this game, earn some money or both. There are 2 factions to choose from, with 9 different classes for every race. Some classes can be used in all races, while others are limited. Are you the type to take massive amounts of damage without batting an eyelash? Or are you the type to deal wicked damages to multiple targets all at once? Or are you more comfortable working behind the group and making sure they don’t die? Or are you the sneaky bastard that prefers dealing damages by any means necessary?

Whatever your preference for your character may be, you also have to take into consideration the speed of the character leveling , availability of good items and equipment, and the demand for the said character in instances and raids. To help you narrow down your choices, here are the basic information for each of the 9 World of Warcraft Characters available.

1.) Druids – are all the classes mixed together. They have the Shapeshift ability which makes you take the form of different animals for a variety of reasons like the Bear which is for tanking, or the Cat which is for dealing fast amounts of damage or a Seal which enables you to swim underwater faster. They can also be counted on as the support unit since they also have healing spells and buffs similar to a priest. World of Warcraft druids are one of the most versatile and most balanced classes out there and I should know, since I am also playing a druid in World of Warcraft’s Wrath of the Lich King.

2.) Hunters – are pretty easy. They can make use of their pets to fight for them while they stand back and sometimes just for the fun of it, watch their pets take down the mob. Though this is one of the most common builds of a hunter, some hunters develop their skills into harnessing massive damage by relying on the skills and abilities that only this particular build can offer. Other hunters prefer long term survivability by investing in defense talents. Regardless of the varying builds, hunters are very important when it comes to group and solo survivability.

3.) Mages – deal the most massive amount of damage from all the other characters. Aside from that, they can also deal the same amount of damage to multiple targets, making them one of the must-have members in an instance or leveling group. Their major setback is that they have low defense to balance with their inept ability to deal 3-4 digit damages in a blink of an eye.

4.) Priests – are not for fighting but they are essential and sought after by instance and leveling groups. Although leveling a priest is hard work, the rewards are great. People will want you to join their group and thus, you can just sit back, heal and revive downed characters and take all the glory and treasures.

5.) Warriors – are the alternative choice for either dealing or taking in damage. Warriors are known to be versatile tanks and damage dealers with their wide range of warrior items and warrior skills. Though some may point out that warriors are not so ideal when it comes to tanking, the fact cannot be denied that they are very useful for whatever the calling.

6.) Paladins – are a mixture of priests and warriors. They can heal themselves and other party members while taking in damage at the same time. Talk about character versatility. While their healing may not come close to a priest’s or do damage to that of a warrior’s, they are very handy in instances and character leveling groups.

7.) Warlocks – deal damage with their Damage per Second (DPS) based spells. Aside from that, they can also call in pets to aide them in battle. Second to a rogue’s DPS rate, warlocks can deal an insane amount of damage in a matter of seconds, whether it’s a huge blow or a spell inflicting damage in seconds. The difficulties of warlock leveling may vary since they may rely on the build that you are going to focus on. What’s also cool about warlocks is that they have their own mounts after completing quests at level 40.

8.) Shamans – heal and resurrect and have totems. Totems are like pets, only better. They can heal, or deal damage or cast negative spells on an enemy. The drawback: is their low armor and time-span. They also have a radius for their healing or damage. So whatever comes inside the radius, it’s either healed or killed.

9.) Rogues – are the dirtiest of the lots. They are assumed to be able to deal the fastest amount of damage in the shortest time possible from the other classes that rely on time-based damage like warlocks and hunters. Rogues are also sneaky bastards with their stealth and literally backstabbing skills that can surprise the unaware players or mobs. Aside from that, they can also poison their weapons for an additional rate of damage per second.

Now you know the different classes have to offer. It is up to you to maximize their full potential and hopefully become one of the strongest characters in the World of Warcraft realm.
